I have Canada’s media to thank for presenting me with the opportunity to run for Parliament. This opportunity for me to play a role in public life, arose solely as a result of the incompetent and corrupt nature of Canada’s media. This void in truth created by Canada’s media was gladly filled by me. Today that void remains, along with a void of justice. No doubt, this pleases Canada’s media, or why else would they conduct themselves in such a manner as they do?
Canada’s media is expected to perform its role to society in the following manner:
- Politicians/bureaucrats make false representations of a factual nature as the justification for a policy causes great harm to all Canadians
- Media investigates these representations of a factual nature and reveal them to be lies and falsehoods perpetrated for ulterior reasons by the politicians/bureaucrats
- Policy is rescinded and/or politicians and bureaucrats are fired
In actual fact, Canada’s media performs its role in the following manner:
- Politicians/Bureaucrats make false representations of a factual nature as the justification for a policy causes great harm to all Canadians
- Media fails to investigate, incapable of understanding the issues, others in media “pile on” and “blame the victims”. Canada is diminished
- Politicians/Bureaucrats make false representations of a factual nature as the justification for yet another policy causes great harm to all Canadians
- Media fails to investigate, incapable of understanding the issues, others in media “pile on” and “blame the victims”. Canada is diminished
- Politicians/Bureaucrats make further false representations of a factual nature as the justification for more policies which causes great harm to all Canadians
- Media fails to investigate, incapable of understanding the issues, others in media “pile on” and “blame the victims”. Canada is diminished
- Politicians/Bureaucrats have become immunized in their ability to make false representations of a factual nature as the justification for any and all policies that causes great harm to all Canadians
- Media fails to investigate, incapable of understanding the issues, others in media “pile on” and “blame the victims”. Canada is diminished
-etc etc etc, until we have no government for the people to speak of or Canada to be proud of. Thanks media, you are the only thing more incompetent and corrupt than Jim Flaherty. Without you, there would be no Jim Flaherty or those of his ilk in public office.
Meanwhile I have my supporters like Michael and thousands others like him in Whitby-Oshawa and across this (once?) great country:
Brent, thank you thank you, thank you for all your efforts; no one can say that you didn't give it your all, I think you would have given your blood to right the wrong perpetrated on the Canadian populace.
Sadly however, they are too blind, too cowardly to help themselves... and for that, my heart weeps for the Canada I once knew. I can only hope that the truth will become apparent before more damage is done.
The saddest words in the world, "Too Late", come to mind...
With fondest regards,
Your friend,
Michael

The only thing more incompetent and corrupt than Jim Flaherty, is Canada’s media

The Canadian media was the biggest Turkey that we all received this past Thanksgiving.
Investigative journalism has been lost in this country by all but the local small town newspapers.
What a shame--never again can we hope to have the unbiased , dig-deep style of news & reporting that we used to see in the past.
All reporting is nothing more than a kow-tow to the corporate bosses upstairs who depend upon government control for their profits.
Spin , spin , & spin some more--there are votes to be had , contracts & pocket lining bonuses to be won.
To hell with Joe & Mary on the street.
Let them eat cake.
Dr Mike Popovich.
Congratulations on getting killed in your riding.
However, I still expect you to continue your talking points about income trusts.
LMFAO. Harper gained 16 seats last night.

I doubt if you even know the nuances of an income trust.
You certainly would not know anything about the proof behind the trust tax.
All that we wanted was for Flaherty to prove his case for tax leakage --the reason behind removing trusts an investment vehicle.
There is no excuse for ignorance , esp by a finance minister.
16 seats means dick-all considering only 59% of the people voted--Harper received less of the popular vote than he did in 2006.
So unless you can miraculously supply us with the tax leakage proof , then buzz off.
Dr Mike Popovich.
So sorry for your loss Brent. But, please, keep pounding away at Flaherty, Harper & all the Cons. "We" have elected a very sick party to lead this country down the tubes - which is it's true agenda.
Tough guy anononymous said;
"Harper gained 16 seats last night.
Oh good! Another 16 CON MPs to muzzzle.
What assurances do we have that Parliament won't yet again be dysfucntional?
That's right, Brent, blame the press. It's the last refuge of a failed politician.
Nationally, Liberal vote dropped by 4 percentage points in this election. In Whitby-Oshawa, it declined by 13 points. Enough said.

Derek; In case you haven't noticed I have been laying responsibility at the feet of you an your pathetic profession long before I ran for office.
You are the failure, not I.
I stand proud in what I have accomplished.
Evidently to be successful as a politician like Flaherty, one need only resort to blatant lies, deceit, duplicity, false appropriation of others accomplishments etc etc.
That's what voters must be looking for? News room editors like the Globe an Mail as well, no doubt?
PS I thought I was irrelevant? You keep defeating that goal of yours with every news story you write.
Brent Fullard
Derek
I personally blame the press for not digging into Flaherty`s claims of tax leakage.
A few years back issuing 18 blacked-out pages as a claim of proof & then recalling them would have been cause for the press to detect some sort of cover-up & dig beneath the surface like there is no tomorrow.
Ordinary Canadians were harmed by this law--no proof was given--unless you personally think that blacking out pages is proof enough.
You guys are our last line of hope in a lot of cases.
Dr Mike Popovich.
You mean the Official LPC broadcaster the CBC didn't figure all this out???
The fact is the ideas presented by the LPC were just plain stupid.
The Green Shift was just dumb.
Merkel in Germany is today making concessions to manufacturers in Germany who are threatening to leave if they don't get off the Greenie bull.
The three leftist parties in Canada gave us three different flavours of Socialism/Marxism . . . could it be Canooks are waking up???
Canada's media is leftist at best . . . certainly not right-wing.
A CHANGED CLIMATE: EUROPE GOES COLD ON CLIMATE HYPE
-The Economist - October 2, 2008
Excerpt: Just 18 months ago the European Union promised to save the world from climate change. The heroic mood is gone now. In March 2007 Angela Merkel, the German chancellor and chairman of the summit, was a green champion. Today she sounds like a lobbyist for German business, listing the industries that must be shielded from the full costs of her package. In truth, almost every country has found reasons why the climate-change promises may be impossible to meet in their current form.
Could this be the end of the "Green Religion of GW"?
The right is where its at said:
"Brent Fullard you sound like a sore loser. Just accept your lose (sic) with grace and go forward."
Huh?:
No sour grapes for Whitby-Oshawa candidates
Fullard, Purdy and Anderson dust themselves off while Flaherty prepares to weather economic storm

WHITBY -- Despite suffering a landslide loss against the incumbent, Conservative Jim Flaherty, his opponents in Whitby-Oshawa riding are swallowing the outcome and moving on.
"There's nothing we would have done differently," Liberal candidate Brent Fullard said, after a day to digest the results. "We had a spirited campaign and did everything we had in our power to do. The people made their choice and that's fine. We don't regret a thing."
Mr. Flaherty crushed the competition by dominating the popular vote (50.9 per cent) and bringing in twice as many votes as Mr. Fullard (25.7 per cent). NDP candidate David Purdy trailed behind at 14.1 per cent and Doug Anderson rounded off the list at 8.4 per cent.
Mr. Purdy attributed the outcome to the record low voter turnout this year that saw only an estimated 59.1 per cent of Canadians casting ballots.
"We didn't have any illusions of winning but based on what people were saying when we went door-to-door and after the debates, we didn't expect Jim Flaherty to win again," he said. "There's so many people who say they don't want to vote for the Conservatives and that they don't respect the incumbent, but unless they get out to the polls, it's not going to make a difference."
Mr. Anderson, who carried the banner for the Greens, said the disappointment of the loss won't stop him from continuing his efforts to convince regional council not to build an incinerator -- a motion that council requested he put off until after the election.
"I don't generally look backwards, I tend to look forward," he said. "You live with the result and you move onward."
Both he and Mr. Purdy expressed no misgivings for the way their parties played the game and were grateful for the opportunity to reach out to members of the local community over the past five weeks.
"I think we ran a very good campaign based on a very shoestring budget," Mr. Purdy said, adding he is setting his sights on the 2010 municipal election, when he hopes to run in Oshawa.
Mr. Fullard and Mr. Anderson said they would consider running for office again, but that it would depend on how long the wait for the next election will be.
As for what's on his agenda for this term as MP for the riding, Mr. Flaherty said the priority will be to tackle Canada's economic challenges and the global credit crisis.
"We're going to take whatever steps we have to take to protect the strength of the Canadian financial system," he said. "We had a report last week from the World Economic Forum saying Canada has the soundest financial system in the world. We do and we have to stand on guard to make sure it stays that way."
Despite his party not managing to secure a majority government, the federal finance minister said he was happy with the results from Ontario, including a victory for Conservative Colin Carrie in Oshawa and several ridings in Toronto.
"We have a significant number of seats' increase from what we had before," he said. "I think it's quite difficult when there are four parties all winning a substantial number of seats for any one party to form a majority government."
About the race in Whitby-Oshawa, Mr. Flaherty said he viewed Mr. Purdy and Mr. Anderson's platforms as sincere, but said the Liberal party's decision to allow Toronto resident Mr. Fullard to fight against him was a mistake.
"The Whitby-Oshawa area has a strong sense of community and when someone comes from the outside, they're at a disadvantage," he said. Also expressing disappointment over the low voter turnout, Mr. Flaherty said more work needs to be done with younger people to encourage them to take voting seriously.
"If someone doesn't exercise their franchise to vote, they're really saying to their neighbour, 'Your vote is twice as important as mine because I'm not using mine.' These are important issues that affect our lives that those of us who are elected have to deal with."
