Le Devoir Story Click here
Ottawa - Former Conservative donor Gwyn Morgan, in which Prime Minister Stephen Harper had tried unsuccessfully to offer a post paid during the last federal election campaign to $ 20 000 to the National Citizens Coalition. This body, the former home base of Mr. Harper has used the money to buy ads attacking the then-Liberal leader Stéphane Dion.
This is reflected in the report submitted for election by the National Citizens Coalition (NCC) and Elections Canada consulted by Le Devoir. «Don't get fooled again» ). The NCC has issued advertisements, including a half-page advertisement in the National Post, attacking the Liberal green plan and entitled "Do not get fooled again" (Do not even once).
Advertising place side by side into a caricature of Pierre Elliott Trudeau and a Stéphane Dion to establish a parallel between the controversial National Program on Energy of 1980 first and second turning green. It indicates that the carbon tax proposed by Mr. Dion will hurt to Alberta and Saskatchewan. . "With financial markets in turmoil and the Canadian economy slowing, it is not the time to try a new tax. .» Say No to turning green. "

Newspapers will sell anything, even opinion space to Mr. Morgan. He is a fat cat with a big ego. Newspaper revenues are under attack from the internet and suffering from the collapse of the auto and retail sector. Gwyn may get double the column space for the same price soon!

EnCana's Gwyn Morgan nominated for new federal appointments job

CBC News
Popular Calgary oil executive Gwyn Morgan has been nominated by Stephen Harper to chair the prime minister's proposed public appointments commission.
"There is no one better qualified," Harper said in announcing the nomination at Toronto's Empire Club on Friday.
But Liberal MP Navdeep Bains objected to Morgan's nomination, saying he was openly pro-Conservative.
Gwyn Morgan will earn $1 a year if appointment is approved.
Morgan was one of the most popular executives in Calgary's oilpatch until his retirement as head of EnCana Corp. on Jan. 1.
He was named Canada's most respected CEO in a survey conducted by Ipsos Reid last year. He was also given the Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2006 by the University of Victoria.
But Morgan's qualifications have come under criticism from Liberal Navdeep Bains, MP for Mississauga-Brampton South. Bains told Canadian Press that Morgan had been openly critical of the Liberal Party in a speech to the Empire Club two months ago.
Morgan reportedly praised the ethics and honesty of Harper while attacking the former Liberal government.
"We have witnessed the party that governed our country over most of its history, embroiled in behaviour that is comparable to that of countries at the bottom of the world corruption index," Morgan reportedly said in his speech.
"We saw an orchestrated attempt to impugn a Canadian political leader (Harper) whose integrity is beyond reproach and a person who openly honours Christian values, but respects all religions."
Those comments raised a red flag for the Opposition Liberals.
"There's no doubt that there's a clear bias in Morgan's remarks," Bains told Canadian Press. "It shows a lack of judgment on making his comments, and more importantly, this individual is supposed to be in a non-partisan position to end patronage."
"Most of all, I would question his judgment in selecting appointments for government agencies, boards and Crown corporations. Is he really going to reflect a merit-based approach when it comes to appointments?" Bains asked.
But Morgan told Canadian Press that he was simply "expressing the truth" in his speech to the Empire Club.
"If they're saying only Liberals should be appointed or NDP members, it doesn't make any sense to me," he said. "I happen to be a Conservative but I also happen to have a reputation that speaks for itself."
If he wins the new job, Morgan would develop and review guidelines for federal appointments under the proposed federal accountability act. He must get the approval of a House of Commons committee before his nomination can be ratified.
The job comes with a salary of $1 a year.
He's a global warming denialist.
Our media mimics Iran's. There, those who deny the reality of the holocaust by not denying it outright, but skating about the evidence to paint a completely misleading picture, get their voices amplified. Why? Because it's socially acceptable, and modern Jews live in Israel, an enemy, which provides a motivational bias for writers and readers to at least entertain questions about their true history. Here, global warming denialists get to traipse about the media espousing their well-phrased ignorance. Why? Because it's acceptable, since it's so profitable, socially and economically, to ignore the real risk that excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will warm it, and likely cause great harm, and instead trot out a "scientific perspective" from an alternate universe pieced together from dissidents whose views align perfectly with your interests.
Gwyn Morgan denies climate change, profits from their being no price attached to emissions from oil sands extractions and refining, which pay his pension. He's prepared to prostitute his column to anti-science lunacy, and pay for ads that mock politicians for trying to wrench people out of their fantasy land.
People, no matter where they live, are quite similar. There is no great difference between men. They have a great tendency to believe things that comfort them.
