Apparently Harper is sucking and blowing on the Stimulus

Today on POLITICS with Don Newman we learn from Don’s pundit guest from Calgary, that Stephen Harper in his private meetings in New York yesterday was espousing the view that “ we are going overboard with stimulus in North America”.

Well what kind of sucking and bkowing leadership is that? Harper is trying to ride both horses at once. For public consumption in Canada, we are lead to believe that Harper’s heart in this stimulus, but for private consumption in the the US, he is disowning it?

What does this imply about whether these stimulus tax dollars are actually going to be spent. What does this imply about Harper’s integrity and plausibility?

Does Harper believe in the actions of his government or does he not? None of this sucking and blowing can remotely be considered "leadership", for those who may have delusions that Harper is a leader.

Question Period:

Mr. Speaker, my question is for the Prime Minister.

Reports are circulating from those in attendance at Stephen Harper's private meetings in New York earlier this week, that the Prime Minister of Canada is expressing concern that the stimulus measures of North America are "going overboard?"

Is this the view of Canada's Prime Minister or is it not? Now more than ever, the issue of trust and confidence in the economy is essential to its recovery. Self deflating messages such as those circulating about Stephen Harper's commitment to Canada's stimulus measures, if true, are anything but helpful.

Please set the record straight with an unequivocal comment on your commitment to Canada's stimulus measures.

Isn`t this what The PMO leaked that then senator Barack Obama was doing on the NAFTA file , saying one thing in public for general consumption & then another in private to the people that really count.

It appears that the general population is only an inconvenience for Harper since we are nothing more than a bunch of clueless lemmings genetically predisposed to follow.

Without a legitimate media to ferret out these gov`t inconsistencies we tend to hear only what is set down for our consumption.

In this case Mr Harper tells us that we need to stimulate the economy with our hard-earned tax dollars but it appears that he is not convinced this will do any good.

Way to go Steve , you are single-handedly destroying consumer confidence , the very thing that has the ability to remove us from this recession.

Dr Mike.

Ignatieff asked this very question in Question Period on February 25, 2009:

Mr. Michael Ignatieff (Leader of the Opposition, Lib.):

Mr. Speaker, the problem is whether the Prime Minister actually believes what he is doing, because behind closed doors he is singing a different tune.

We know from Rick Anderson, the well-known Conservative insider, that the Prime Minister is quoted as saying that his own stimulus package is “over the top”.

Does the Prime Minister actually believe in his action plan?
