No surprise here: Harper not trusted to handle economy: poll

Canwest News Service
January 15, 2009

Few Canadians have faith in the ability of Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government to address the economic crisis, suggests a poll released Wednesday.

It found just one in four Canadians believe Harper's government is doing a good or very good job of dealing with the crisis, and more than 40 per cent have little or no confidence the government can make things better.

The poll was conducted by Nanos Research on behalf of the National Union of Public and General Employees.

In total, 1,003 Canadians were surveyed by phone between Jan. 3 and Jan. 7.

My question to the Canadian public is "why the hell did you vote for this guy??"--it was already obvious by the last election that this was a man who was a denier & who as a result did not have a plan.

Yet you still voted for this man--incredible.

This was a guy who refused to meet with premiers , refused to listen to suggestions from ordinary Canadians about the economy , said a recession would have happened by now if it was going to , & the same guy who hired an incompetent Like Jim Flaherty to run the most important cabinet post in this country.

This guy does not deserve to remain Prime Minister--actually , he never deserved the job.

It is time for him to go , so people wise-up next time & do the right thing.

Hmmm ... a poll conducted by the National Union of Public and General Employees finds very unfavourable views towards the Conservatives.

Yes, yes, it just MUST be accurate!

And now you're quoting it like it's a solid fact. Then another LibLogs voter will quote you ... and so on ... and so on.

ROFL (at you & your ilk)

It's not the 3 in 4 people that strike me in this survey, but rather the 1 in 4 who think that Harper is doing a good or very good job of managing the economy.

Who are these people and what economic news are they following? Do they run liquor stores? Discount liquidation outlets?

I certainly have yet to meet this mysterious 25% of individuals who are satisfied with the current state of the economy. But maybe they're hiding from laid off auto workers.

Hey Pelalusa

I supported the Conservative movement for 37 years & I think this guy has mismanaged the economy to the extent that he made the recession possible.

He removed 35 billion from the economy overnight with his trust decision--this has never been recouped--this money was in dollars that would be spent for goods & services which are fully taxable--no can do now.

Rather than reduce taxes to all he targeted special interest groups which gives a very poor return on the dollar.

He reduced the GST by 2 points which helped the rich but did very little to put dollars into the hands of middle & lower income earners which are the spenders.

The list goes on & on.

As I see it the Liberals supply the only reasonable alternative to a Reform gov`t gone bad.

Pelalusa;

No it is you who are misquoting the facts of this situation when you say:

"Hmmm ... a poll conducted by the National Union of Public and General Employees"

Read the article again, as it reads:

"The poll was conducted by Nanos Research on behalf of the National Union of Public and General Employees."

Slight difference idiot. But by all means go ahead and repeat you mistatement, then Then another CON borg voter will quote you ... and so on ... and so on.

The 25% who voted in favour of Harper are probably the seniors who cannot afford proper vision care, and thus mistook "running" the country for "ruining" the country.

Hmmmm....while looking at your photo, I seem to recall that those GST stickers cost taxpayers about $650,000 for this stupid, childish show and tell.
