Which robocall constitutes fraudulent misrepresentation?

This is not a trick question. Hopefully even the Globe and Mail can distinguish the difference between the use of automated calling technology to achieve fraudulent misrepresentation and voter suppression and one that uses the technology to present issues-based views:

Which robocall constitutes fraudulent misrepresentation?

ALWAYS, always always go to the "source documents" when they are available, as opposed to some body else's interpretation/obfuscation thereof. That's what I did on November 1, 2006 and started looking for the "source documents" on Harper's alleged "tax leakage" from income trusts. Learned by making ONE phone call to a friend on Bay Street that Dennis Bruce's study had been published which proved their was NO tax leakage and that Harper's tax leakage argument was based on a false fabricated and concocted notion that left out 38% of the taxes the government actually collects on income trusts. The Canadian news media are more than happy to obscure the truth, like the Globe did on income trusts and is now doing on voter fraud.

Brent,

Once again the media can't figure out the difference between basic concepts. Whether it is election fraud versus electioneering or tax leakage versus tax deferral the media is simply clueless as are many people who do not take 5 minutes to examine the issue for themselves.

Randy: Sadly the media isn't that dumb. Instead they are corrupt, as their reporting on this (and many other issues like income trusts) is designed to obscure what is really going on by creating a morass of confusion, designed to buy cover for the Harper regime.

The question is then: Why? What do they get out of this corruption? At least if I believe they are stupid then I can believe that stupid sells newspapers and TV ad slots. Maybe they are looking for senate postings like Duffy? Even then there are only so many of those useless positions available. I just don’t get it.

Also, people should spend 5 minutes – as you said you made one phone and figured it out – to analyze the issues for themselves.

Here’s a sad but true story. I’m sure many have heard about this Kony video going around. It was being discussed in both my daughters’ high school classes. They came home just really raging about the attitudes of their classmates. They didn’t care whether people had an opinion about the validity, appropriateness, the good or the bad of the video, they were raging about how so many people had an opinion on the video and hadn’t even seen it or done any research. It just blew them away that people could think this way.

Both are studying in the International Baccalaureate program which has some of the brightest kids in the school. They are taught to think with a broader, more critical and world view of a subject. If these kids can’t get the concept of “Think for Yourself” then what hope do we have that the Timmies crowd will think beyond the next double-double?

Why?

Two words explain it: Job Blackmail.....a term I learned from Elizabeth May (when she describe her fight against acid rain and Inco). Do you think a reporter at the Globe that is owned by the billionaire Thomson family gets to decide what he or she writes, or can freely oppose Harper when the Globe endorsed Harper for PM? That's not why the billionaire Thomson family owns this paper, to simply hand over its editorial content to a bunch of hired peons.

These reporters might be able to do it once or twice, but their job would be in jeopardy. Therefore the people who remain at the Globe are the one's who have learned to survive and have reconciled their behavior with the pressure exerted on them, either implicitly or explicitly, from the atmosphere of job blackmail in which they reside.

As I said in another CAITI blog posting pertaining to Joe Oliver that applies equally to the kow towed mnembers of the press:

In reality people like Joe Oliver are the simple product of Harper's Theory of Natural Selection and the Survival of the Weakest, in which those with no back bone, like Joe Oliver are more than happy to advance their own otherwise lacklustre careers by doing WHATEVER the boss man demands of them, regardless of the ethical or moral consequences or duty that is owed to Canadians at large:

This was the iROROTO election.
Keeping voters in a robotic mindset.
We have a Harper Conservative party who gives us blackout documents while in reality we have HLB Decision Economics who proved to us that income trusts did not cause tax leakage. But in iROBOTO politics
practiced by Harper the truth is all about gearing the public into a Robotic mindset !

Where is the media on this ? Well let me call them "The GEAR PRESS" and they are running out of grease !
