Couldn't disagree more, Your Excellency

I was copied on this missive:

Couldn't disagree more, Your Excellency
mailto:Info@GG.CA>

You have placed the whim of the PM ahead of the will of the Parliament. Our Parliament I might add. This, after you granted Harper his wish to renege on his fixed election date legislation. Well done. You have now succeeded in making Canada's democracy dysfunctional, instead of just Parliament proper. Have you ever pondered what the source of this contagion called dysfunction might be? One hint: He visited you this morning for Coffee and Prorogies. Your decision has rendered you obsolete in the minds of myself, and no doubt millions of your “subjects”.......at least those who employ their minds on occasions such as this.

Many thanks for these most appropriate comments on this very disturbing topic.

Thank you very, very much.

Dear Madame Jean:

As disturbing and upsetting that your decision to remove the right of my
elected member to meet and vote may be, it pales in comparison to the
precedent you have set. Such shirking of responsibility on your part
can only lead to a future Prime Minister going even further. Any time a
future Prime Minister wants to escape the accounting known as a
confidence vote, he/she will now be able to use your misguided decision
as an excuse. Can we really be that far from an elected, U.S. style
presidency? Or even worse, are we closer to more of a dictatorship than
we already have?

Canada has slowly given more and more power to Prime Ministers of every
political stripe over the last 50 years. Irresponsible decisions like
yours today have caused and allowed that erosion of citizen rights and
democracy. How could you not be aware of what you were doing? How could
you possibly have come to the conclusion that you did?

Because of your decision, I am disappointed and ashamed to live in a
country with many citizens and a Governor General who seem to pay more
attention and place more value on a person's appearance and spin sound
bites than what that person says they will do and what they do.

The GG knows absolutely nothing about these matters. She is like an ornament on a Xmas tree. She will be dictated the line by others, either the PM or her faceless "advisers" whoever they may be!

Shame on you.

So you gave in to the liar.

Shame , shame, shame

You should be proud of yourself.

You are absolutely useless.

Harper's sin of pride:

There are certain theological diseases to which one is exposed and which one may contract as a result of this endeavor. Helmut Thielicke has described several of them quite vividly in his Little Exercise for Young Theologians. One of the most common and most serious is the sin of pride. When we have acquired a considerable sophistication in matters of theology, there is a danger that we will regard that knowledge as something of a badge of virtue, something that sets us apart as superior to others. We may use that knowledge, and particularly the jargon we have acquired, to intimidate others who are less informed. We may take advantage of our superior skills, becoming intellectual bullies. Or our knowledge of theology may lead us to a type of theological gamesmanship, in which the arguing of one theory against another becomes our whole purpose in life. But this is to convert what should be the most serious of matters into a sport (p. 1251).

Pathological Proroguer

"Last Friday I asked Canadians to give us their opinion on the parliamentary situation. That feedback has been overwhelming and very clear. They want Canada's government to continue to work on the agenda they voted for -- our plan to strengthen the economy."

Harper after the meeting with Jean. Every poll I have seen shows that "no" prorogue is ahead by 5 to 10 points. What a pathological liar. Is this the lie he used to convince Jean?

Where the h... is his data? Oops I forgot he is the greatest pm in the history of ever.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED FOR OUR SYSTEM OF PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY. Putting the partisan pundits aside on tv, EVERY CONSTITUTIONAL EXPERT THAT HAS SPOKEN IN THE LAST FEW DAYS ON TV, NEWSPAPERS, RADIO, ETC, HAS SAID THAT GG JEAN MUST FOLLOW CONSTITUTIONAL PRECEDENT. WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT IN THE FUTURE ANY PM CAN SUBVERT PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY- AS HARPER HAS SUCCESSFULLY DONE TODAY-IF HE IS A COWARD TO FACE THE PARLIAMENT. AS CANADIANS, FOR OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS, EVEN IF WE ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE THE GG'S WORD FOR IT, THSI IS A HUGE AND DEPLORABLE MISTAKE, WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE SHE IS KICKED OUT OF OFFICE AND KETS START BUILDING A NATION-WODE COALITION NOW, LETS CALL IT THE "COALITION FOR PALIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY." FELLOW CANADIANS, ARE YOU WITH ME!?!

Her Excellency

the Right Honourable Michaƫlle Jean, C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., C.D.

Governor General of Canada

Excellency,

I am saddened and dismayed by your decision today, to permit Stephen
Harper to avoid facing the duly elected members of the House of
Commons by proroguing a parliament which had only barely begun.

This precedent-setting decision on your part will forever affect
Canadian democracy and not in a good way. From now on, thanks to you,
any time a Prime Minister thinks there is a vote of non-confidence
coming, he can simply follow Harper's lead, and shut paliament down.

The role of the Governor General is to be a final check on the power
of the Prime Minister, and although under normal circumstances that
is mostly a formality, these were not normal circumstances.

Never before has a Prime Minister even attempted such an end-run
around the democratic process of this country. From now on however,
it is sure to be a staple manouevre.

You had the opportunity to act in the best interests of democracy,
and you failed. You sought the path of least resistance and in so
doing you have weakened democracy in the country for all time. Your
lack of courage and foresight today has hurt us all.

Sincerely,

Anon

Worst GG ever! She deserves every ounce of criticism dished out by the media since her appointment. Obviously one area of Canadian politics that has been reported on accurately by the media - She is not worthy of representing our country!
What a lousy Canadian! Did she actually have to write and pass a citizenship test? Or did she get by on that one because of her age at the time? After today, Canadians have the right to demand answers from her. Her recent actions indicate she has no regard for what it means to be Canadian or what it means to be appointed to the GG job.
Her Haitian roots are shining through. She would make an excellent representative or Haitian government official. Clearly she misses dictatorship and the corruption of her homeland government, civil unrest and chronic economic difficulties. Go back to Haiti Madame Jean! It is where you belong.
What a disgrace and very sad day for Canadian democracy.

So Harper got everything he wanted from Madame Jean this morning. The way he was grinning at the podium this morning, I wonder if that included a blow job as well.

My view on the GG is that it really was not her decision but rather those of her "advisors". She seems like a very bright young lady but would be completely out of her depth on this. Knowing that, her handlers would have stepped into the breach, rather like a "Yes Minister" situation. it would be very interesting to know who they are and what are their affiliations/background. If I'm not mistaken, Harper walked in with his heavy duty constitutional experts and she had hers and they kept it up for almost 2 hours. Her team lost.
