onProbation.ca is officially put On Probation by Eric Shultz

No honey, no money!

I recently got a letter from the Liberal Party of Canada asking (begging) me to donate money to their "victory fund." I have to admit that in the last federal election I contributed to the Liberals (both to Brent Fullard of CAITI fame and out of some misplaced sense of civic duty to my local candidate).

But what did I get for it?! Another minority Conspiracy...uhh, I mean Conservative government and a spineless, headless Liberal party in opposition (in name only). So I'm not ready to give them any more money until I see some action - let them put their mouth where my money is!

My first question regarding the taxation of Income Trusts at the Liberal's web site, onProbation.ca has recently fallen to second place (not including the votes for all the duplicate questions). It hasn't seen any action. Judging by the site, none of the questions have seen any action since both the Accepted questions and Completed questions tags are empty.

And now the other forum where I had posted a question to Liberal leader Michael Ignatief is gone completely!!! Not just my question, but the whole forum!!!

So the Liberals better do something about the Conservatives to demonstrate they're worth my money AND my vote - or next election I'm definitely voting for the Rhinoceros party!

Well said.

Glad I am not the only one no longer willing to contribute one red cent for a lack of action. Very interesting how the Liberals removed your reference or question on Income Trusts, from their forum and have generally stayed silent and spineless on this issue. Knowledge based society, my ass. If they were sincere, just about every tax paying Canadian and high school students would know what a Trust Unit is by now and why all Canadians should care about this issue.

I hear you on that Rhino party but for now, as an Income Trust Investor I have some strange sense of civic duty towards the Green Party. Go Elizabeth go.

That is because the Liberals have said that they would not reverse the Income Trust decision and that they would have had to do the same thing.
Goodale almost did but did not like the bad press. So, the Liberals are happy that the conservatives made the tough decision and are taking the heat instead.
The NDP are also for the changes so there are no political parties that support CAITI's demands.
Moving the date for the rollover from 2011 to 2012 is about as far as any will go and that is a conservative motion.
And now that Income Trusts are doing very well indeed there are only those people who panic sold or whose income was based on making commissions from IT sales that have anything to complain about.
The horse is out of the barn and dead yet you keep beating it????

Dear Anonymous:

Horse is out of the barn?

Is that in reference to the trust tax or your lame brain and completes lack of logic and facts?

You're right the horse is out of the barn.....as in our democracy is a joke if this self immolating trust tax is allowed to stand, based on all the falsehoods that it was premised on.

Sure let's allow the ulterior purposes be served in the end, by rolling over as you are suggesting and playing dead. Facts mean nothing. Adverse consequences be damned.

But hey, who cares about democracy and truth anyway? That is so "yesterday"!

Your comments are an embarrassment to your parents or whatever barnyard animal that raised you, which is why its too bad that you posted "anonymously", as we'll never know whether you were raised by donkeys or was it sheep? Perhaps toadies?

Um ... er ...where do I begin.

You state that income trusts are doing very well---this shows exactly what your level of knowledge is , non-existent--the trust market has been massacred since 2006 & has never recovered the 35 billion originally lost.

Many trusts have been bought out as their unit price plummeted with a resultant loss of tax revenue which will be felt by all Canadians for years to come.

Many trusts have had to cut their distributions due to the growth constraints placed on them by the Conservative gov`t in an attempt to force them back into the inefficient corporate structure--this has resulted in further tax loss.

Check your facts next time.

No wonder you were afraid to use your own name---I would be ashamed too.

I have to agree with Eric's comments- no public policy statement from the Liberals spells no moola from me either. Every time I send an email to their web site I receive a computer generated response thanking me- oh- and asking for money. Iggy and Company will have to do better than that for my money - and vote. The remaining income trusts are down $85,198,427,000 from the close on October 31, 2006. That is $85.198 billion! You sound like the regular conservative hacks and the press and the finance department, no data just BS.
