Flaherty's latest fiscal update: No potato famines are being forecast

Just to be clear So, Flaherty’s saying that things won’t get quite as bad as the Irish potato famine, that brought his pirate ancestors to Canada? Because that was really bad. Not the famine part, as much as the bringing his pirate ancestors to Canada part.

The good news is that Harper has now finally become sensitized to Canadians’ plight......now that His job is on the line....and proroguing is no longer an option:

OTTAWA — The recession is bleeding North America of jobs and Prime Minister Stephen Harper says he may eventually become a victim of the carnage.

The United States reports it has lost another 663,000 jobs in March, bringing the total to a massive 5.1 million since the downturn began.

And many economists, including Harper, expect the picture won't be much better in Canada when Statistics Canada reports on the March jobless rate next week.

Harper says in an interview with Business News Network from Europe that he is kept up at night by the global recession and the fact he has limited ability to pull Canada out of recession.

He says he is concerned that many Canadians will be losing their jobs because of the bad economic times and that he may also wind up being a victim and lose his job.
