Uncle Dalton & Cousin Dwight have tossed us a real grenade on this one.
There may be some sound reasoning for such a cash shift in the long-run to give corporations a break as a job producing incentive , but this is neither the time or the place.
The Ontario economy is barely treading water , with a possible housing bubble lurking on the horizon , so tossing us a lead-lined life preserver is a seriously baaaaaaad move.
Cash for service is sounding better & better.

Sometimes to make an egg salad sandwich, you have to crack a few eggs. How did you expect the government to pay for ambitious programs? Eventually you have to pay the Piper, it ain't perfect, but it is necessary.
And what does this have to do with income trusts?

Well this statement proves that Marx-A-Million doesn't have a blessed clue what he is talking about. What new programs are being funded by the HST, apart from corporate tax cuts? Cutting corporate taxes is not a "program", you Marx-A-Million fool.

What does this have to do with Income trusts? Well for one thing, if Flaherty didn't cause the loss of billions of dollars per year in tax revenue with his inane destruction of income trusts, those billions could be put to use in funding the programs and service that you speak of rather, we are faced with regressive and unfair taxes to make up for his ineptitude.

Marx-A-Million asked:
"What does this have to do with Income trusts?"
Huh? Who said the comments on this blog have to be confined to income trusts? Are you trying to censor us?
Meanwhile the HST has A LOT to do with income trusts, again displaying your total lack of comprehension
Flaherty's income trust tax was premised on the (false) argument of tax leakage and that false argument was presented to the public by Flaherty as a case of "shifting the tax burden from corporations to the individual." That was how this policy was sold to Canadians, on the basis that it was BAD to have situations where the tax burden is being shifted from corporations to individuals, which is what was alleged was occurring with income trusts, but which is patently untrue,
Meanwhile ask yourself, who was the main driver of the HST?
Answer: Flaherty, same moron as was behind the trust tax.
Then ask yourself, what does the HST do from a tax burden perspective?
Answer: It shifts that tax burden from corporations to individuals at the rate of about $2 billion a year in Ontario alone. As such could Flaherty be any more of a hypocrite if he tried. since his HST is actually achieving the very result that he alleged his income trust tax would avoid?
Therefore, Could Canadians and the residents of Ontario be any more gullible and dumb if they tried?
But I wouldn't want the facts to get in the way of the discussion. Just keep on swallowing the pablum nonsense that these politicians throw at you and people like Mark-A-Million seem intent on imbibing.
